Spirometry Pulmonary Test & Allergy Test

The Spirometry Pulmonary Test is a common and non-invasive diagnostic tool used to assess lung function, particularly helpful in diagnosing and monitoring conditions like asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other respiratory disorders. During the test, a patient breathes into a device called a spirometer, which measures key parameters such as Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) and Forced Expiratory Volume in one second (FEV₁). These values help determine the presence and severity of airway obstruction or restriction. The test is simple, quick, and typically done in a clinic or hospital setting. On the other hand, an Allergy Test is used to identify specific substances (allergens) that trigger allergic reactions in a person. The most common methods include the skin prick test, where small amounts of allergens are introduced into the skin to observe reactions, and blood tests (like specific IgE tests) that measure immune responses to particular allergens. These tests are crucial for diagnosing allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, eczema, or food allergies, and help guide effective avoidance and treatment strategies.
